We’re lurching though our monster issue of Twisted Sister lit mag; feel free to poke around and check us out, and this time we definitely bite.
Liz McAdams unpacks all things monsterly in her monstrously-oversized essay The Truth of Monsters – as it turns out those creepy creatures do speak their truth, in their own way. Guess you have to speak monster to get it all, but it won’t hurt to give it a read. Much. As an added bonus there’s some links to free eBooks and some other fun things from the BBC. (I know, right?) But check it out, you’ll be glad you did.
Monsters are strange and twisted things that can be cute and adorable a la 1980’s Gremlins (the Mogwai, technically speaking) but can rip your lungs out at the same time. Just don’t feed them after midnight and we’re all good.
We’re lumping all things otherworldly and weird as monsters – werewolves, vampires, and the classic, Frankenstein’s creature. (The monster itself originally had no name, Frankenstein was actually the dude who created it. But things changed over time and the creature took on the name of his creator. Go figure.)
Monsters are actually complex beings. Right now on Twisted Sister we have werewolves and love, medical monsters, and a couple stories where the monsters aren’t always clear. Monsters like to hide, both in human form, and within our own minds; you just might catch one as a flicker out of the corner of your eye. Of course, you can always find one in the basement.
So stick around and check us out, and just don’t look under the bed. It might bite.
