is a hook caught
at the back of
the tongue
deadweight
hanging
back-bent as it
climbs out
taking
ribs voice teeth
with it
locking the jaw
out of place and
shedding me
old skin
leaving
insides
out
going naked
to a new host

Suzanne Magee is a writer and musician from Belfast. She is a graduate of English, and postgraduate of Classical Studies. Her present interests range from Greek tragedy to ‘post-conflict’ literature, with broader interests in the ways in which social systems develop and propagate modern mythical constructs as facets of social control and how this is received or reflected in wider culture. She is currently working on her first chapbook.
