Payback – you get what you deserve, one way or another, is the theme for this issue of Twisted Sister. What better way to drive home this notion than through a tour through the seedy side of things with a heavy dose of crime fiction and noire.
Meat Whiplash (quite possibly the best title out there), Sleeping at the Rum Cherry Motel, and Dead Ringer are stories by men who fit the bill here around Twisted Sister – give us some weird, f@cked up shit, and strong female characters, and it’s all good.
And while crime doesn’t always pay, sometimes it leads to interesting questions – like when best to marry a murder suspect.
We have online dating turning out not the way our hero imagined in Tinder Sacrifice (something about a coven of witches), fiction about leaving bad relationships, and a serial killer who’s had enough of life on the inside. And poems about revenge, and murder, and, well, retribution.
Fun times! Just don’t piss us off, and you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Along the notion of payback, in case you missed them, be sure to check these great hits out:
Gone – she scrimps, and saves, and finally leaves the jerk, and then…
Detective Jodi Cinto’s on the case, trying to stop an ex-con with a heavy case of revenge on his mind in Payback.
Alice (and Edna) both seem to have things down to a culinary science, at least as far as revenge is concerned. And, by the way, you should really try to stay out of the garden — if you know what’s good for you.
Of course, never ‘tick off’ an entomologist, they’ll really go out of their way to ‘bug’ you. (Look those ones up in case you missed them.)
XO,
Twisted Sister
